Art

In year 8 Art students are introduced to a broad range of new techniques, materials, artists and themes. These experiences will set the foundations for developing ourselves as effective artists and creative thinkers. In Art and Textiles students challenge and equip themselves with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of Art. We explore the fundamentals of Art by building upon a wide range of media. Students develop ideas by experimenting, gaining an understanding of practical skills including sculpture and learning the basic functions of a sewing machine, to create personal final outcomes. Informed by the work of other artists, they follow design briefs, and through realising our intentions we create 2D and 3D outcomes including aprons influenced by our personal identity and Modroc masks inspired by the Day of the Dead festival.
