Art

Within GCSE Art and Textiles, students aim to become confident in taking risks and learn from experience when exploring and experimenting with ideas, processes, media, materials and techniques. Students develop an awareness of the purposes, intentions and functions of art, craft and design in a variety of contexts and as appropriate to our own work and chosen areas of study. These intentions are realised through purposeful engagement with visual language, concepts, media, materials and the application of appropriate techniques and working methods. In year 10 students focus on Component 1 (portfolio & further studies: 60%). Students develop responses to personalised starting points, specified tasks and realise intentions informed by research, the development and refinement of ideas and meaningful engagement with selected sources. Responses will include evidence of drawing for different purposes and needs along with written annotation.
