Welcome to the Millgate School website
We are pleased to welcome you to our school website on behalf of the pupils, staff and governors.
Millgate School is a city maintained day and residential special school for boys aged between 11 and 16 who have social, emotional and behavioural difficulties as well as additional complex needs. Pupils attend this school from all over Leicestershire. There are places for 70 pupils, up to 22 of whom will be residents throughout the week in term-time. The residential facility was graded as outstanding(Ofsted 2014).
The School is set in the heart of the city and surrounding by residential housing on all sides. There has been a school on this site since 1955. An extensive building programme began in Autumn 2012 and was completed for the beginning of the academic year 2014-2015. This includes new classrooms and specialist teaching rooms, a refurbished residential block, and a brand new additional sports facility.
Comments from Inspectors, OFSTED inspection 2013:
“Students make considerable strides in their ability to manage their behaviour and in their attitudes to others, because the climate for learning is a more positive one.”
“Students say they want to come more because ‘school is more interesting’ and they know they ‘are making progress’.
“staff morale is high. They say they are proud to work at the school and with the new ‘vibrancy’ it has”.
Millgate School will ensure your child is challenged, motivated to learn and cared for throughout their time here. Staff and boys work well together to ensure there is a culture of belonging and an ethos of respect and support.
Visitors are welcome and students would be thrilled to give you a tour of the school and to tell you why Millgate is such a brilliant place to be!
