ECO-SCHOOL

Welcome to the Eco-Council of the Millgate Eco-Warriors.

We aim to create a more environmentally friendly Millgate School, where children appreciate the natural world and act responsibly toward the environment. To achieve this goal, we have formed a team and developed an agenda for the academic year.

Our Eco-Committee members have been meeting once every half term to discuss three key topics and take action related to them. Additionally, we aim to raise awareness of environmental issues within the school. This year, we have focused on school grounds, healthy living, and litter.

Main activities that members of the eco-committee have participated in:

July 2024: We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded Eco-School of the Year in Leicester! It was an amazing experience.

October 2024: Entire Millgate School took a trip to Twycross Zoo. This was awarded as a prize for Eco School of the Year. We really enjoyed ourselves.

November 2024: We hosted an Eco Roadshow for three primary schools, where our secondary students participated and helped with workshops on biodiversity, litter, and habitats.

January 2025: We organised an Eco Committee Takeover Day, during which committee members arranged various eco-activities for the entire school.

This academic year, Millgate School is working towards reapplying for Eco School Green Flag accreditation, which recognises, rewards, and celebrates the environmental achievements of our students. We are aiming for a green flag with distinction this academic year.
