Year 8s will read many different texts throughout the year and engage with many different tasks such as writing creatively, writing for different audiences, speaking and listening and drama activities.  They will read ‘Wonder’ whilst completing a topic on difference.  ‘Private Peaceful’ and ‘Dulce Et Decorum Est’ are part of a unit exploring the horrors of war.  In order to develop social awareness and the importance of community, the boys will complete a unit on ‘Social Responsibility’ which will involve extracts from ‘The Blue Planet’ and looking at socially responsible advertising and caring for the environment.  Other texts studied will explore the concepts of Love and Power.
