Year 9s will read many different texts throughout the year and engage with many different tasks such as writing creatively, writing for different audiences, speaking and listening and drama activities.  Many of these texts will be preparing them for their Literature GCSE.  They will read ‘Our Day Out’ whilst completing a topic on the 1980s.  ‘Oliver Twist’ and/or ‘A Christmas Carol’ are part of a unit exploring Victorian London and the concept of Change.  The theme of Identity is explored with ‘One Of Us Is Lying’.  Power and Conflict is the main focus of the GCSE Poetry Anthology and so the boys will begin to explore this and may have the opportunity to study ‘The Librarian Of Auschwitz’.  Other texts studied will explore the concepts of nature, politics, memories and dystopia.
